Position Title:
Associate Pastor for Family Ministries / Presbyterian Campus Minister
Position Summary
This is a new call uniting pastoral leadership at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Presbyterian Campus Ministry at Appalachian State University (ASU). This position functions as a single, full-time role rather than two separate part-time calls. It reflects a creative expansion of our shared ministry in the High Country, nurturing faith formation across congregational life and university culture. Sustained by the Presbyterian Campus Ministry Board and its partner congregations, together with the Session and congregation at Rumple, we seek a partner in ministry to faithfully steward these two distinct, connected communities.
The Associate Pastor for Families at Rumple will develop and execute a comprehensive ministry for individual spiritual growth and faith development for children and youth (birth to 12th grade) and their families. To ignite in children and youth a desire for a genuine and growing relationship with Christ by bringing vision, creativity, and innovation to church life, educational ministry, fellowship, worship, and mission.
The Campus Minister at ASU serves as a spiritual leader and facilitator for the Presbyterian Episcopal Campus Ministry. The role centers on ministry to ASU students while also engaging the larger campus and church community, embodying Christian love and sharing the Gospel of God’s saving grace through Jesus Christ. Primary responsibilities are student ministry and discipleship, leadership and administration, Listening Post support.
