Welcome To Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church

Welcome! We’re so glad you dropped by and hope you come visit us in person.

We know visiting a new church can be equal parts exciting and unsettling, and you probably have questions about what it’s like to come to church here.

We hope the following questions—and their answers—will encourage you to give us a try.

A Message From Our Pastor Kathy Beach

We have a service every Sunday at 11 a.m. (weather permitting!). From Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend we also have an early service at 8:45 a.m.

The church has two parking lots at the rear of the campus, accessible from Wallingford Rd. and Ginny Stevens Ln., as well as a few spaces along Ginny Stevens Ln. On busy Sundays, the lots fill quickly, and you may need to allow a few extra minutes to park elsewhere. When the lots are full, we recommend trying the deck behind BRAHM, at the corner of Wallingford and Ginny Stevens Ln.

We have a nursery with trained staff for infants and small children (ages 5 and under) from 10:30a.m. to 12:15p.m. (or until the end of service) on Sunday mornings. Due to construction, the nursery is temporarily located on the Classroom level of the Education Building. During worship, children also have the opportunity to come up front for a children’s sermon that we call Time with Children. Then those who are ages 5 and younger can head down to the nursery to learn more and have fun in a separate children’s church. If your children leave after the children’s sermon, you may pick them up in the nursery after the service concludes.

You are always welcome to have your children stay with you during the full church service. Please help yourself to a worship activity bag located near the entrances to the sanctuary. This bag is yours to take home with you. We also have books and Bibles on those same tables available for you to borrow during the service.

You will see a variety of attire in our congregation from casual to dressy. Please know you will be welcome regardless of your attire. The sanctuary can be a little chilly in winter, and so you may be most comfortable in layers.

The main entrance to the sanctuary fronts onto Main Street, but you may also enter the building from the parking lot side of the building. A sidewalk leads along the left side of the Education Building to the Sanctuary doors. An usher will welcome you and help you find a seat.

Rumple observes a traditional order of worship at our services. The service usually includes sacred choral and organ or piano music, congregational hymn singing, prayer, readings from the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, and a scripture-based sermon. We have a few special services during the year when our service follows a different format. We collect an offering each Sunday, and once a month we observe Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, to which anyone who professes the Christian faith is invited and welcome. We say “debts” and “debtors” in the Lord’s Prayer, but you’ll often hear someone visiting from another church denomination say “trespasses,” which is perfectly fine. God hears our words, even if they differ sometimes.

Our bulletin, now available online a few days before the service, guides you through the order of worship. Worship lasts about an hour.

You’ll find Bibles in every pew, and so you don’t need to bring one unless you want to.

We welcome everyone! Members and visitors alike share a moment to greet one another in the name of our Lord at the start of the service. We will not single you out as a visitor, but we do hope you will leave your contact information, including phone and email, with us. We also hope you’ll share any questions or spiritual concerns with our pastor or staff.

Yes! We have an accessible entrance and several parking spaces reserved for the physically disabled at the back of the church. While we are experiencing construction changes, the most accessible way to enter the building is from Main Street. Level entry is possible on the right side of the sanctuary from Main Street, and we block off parking spots on Main Street on Sunday mornings. Please do not block the travel lane while picking up and dropping off.

You may wear a mask if you’re more comfortable doing so, and you’ll see a few individuals throughout the sanctuary wearing masks. We have masks available at the sanctuary entrances.

Rumple currently has one adult Sunday school class that meets on a regular basis. Throughout the year, there are special events and classes during the Sunday school hour.

We love welcoming new members! We allow both full and associate members. So whether you live here or split your time between here and another place—and another church—we have an option for you. Learn more about joining Rumple.
