Key’s Chapel Is Getting a Little TLC

As we continue making improvements across the Rumple campus, it’s time to give Keys Chapel some well-deserved attention, too!

The chapel’s roof is now more than 25 years old, the exterior siding is beginning to show its age—particularly on the side facing the Sanctuary—and the gutters are in need of replacement. These improvements will also address some of the leaks we’ve experienced in the stairwells. With so much construction and beautification happening around campus, this is a wonderful opportunity to care for and refresh this beloved space.

The timing is especially helpful because the new multipurpose building project includes several improvements that will benefit Keys Chapel and the surrounding campus. These include an upgraded sidewalk connecting the back parking area to Main Street, new drainage leading up to Keys Chapel—which will help address the flooding that has been occurring in the Blowing Rock Cares area—and improvements to the chapel entrance.

The Keys Chapel project will be funded through monies set aside in the Properties budget and the Sanctuary Maintenance Reserve. We’re excited to see Keys Chapel receive the care it needs and look forward to how these improvements will enhance both this beloved chapel and the surrounding Rumple campus.
