About Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Hinson-Hasty:

Rev. Dr. Hinson-Hasty serves as J. Roy Davis Family Chair of Theology and History at Union Presbyterian Seminary at the Charlotte campus and is a Professor of Theology and Ethics. The most recent book she has published is on Authentic Christian Freedom: Deconstructing the American Gospel of Liberty (Orbis 2025), and she is currently working on a new project entitled Courageous Moral Leadership from Common People.

What motivates Elizabeth as a teacher and minister is the moments when she witnesses people beginning to see things in a new way, coming alive, and playing a role in transformative change. With over twenty years of experience in higher education, ministry, and social justice advocacy, she is an educator, author, and institutional leader who values collaboration, integrity, pluralism, reciprocity, and mutual respect.

Elizabeth is a parent, partner, runner, and gardener who enjoys good food, especially fish camps, and a great cup of coffee.
