Holy Week and Easter Services 2025
Event Date
April 13, 2025 – April 20, 2025
Sunday, April 13 – Palm Sunday
11 a.m. Worship Service and Holy Week Cantata
The adult choir will present a Holy Week cantata by Craig Courtney entitled, In My Place. This work utilizes narration and music that follows the journey of Christ to the cross. The narrative focuses on the observations of five first-hand witnesses of Christ’s final hours: Judas, Peter, the thief on the cross, the Roman centurion, and a crowd member who called for Christ’s death. The music is a distinctive blend of new melodies and creative hymn settings. The work will be presented in the second half of the service following the Palm Sunday processional. Come journey with us through this poignant presentation! Sunday morning nursery provided from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. This service will be livestreamed.
Thursday, April 17 – Maundy Thursday
7 p.m. Maundy Thursday Worship
In the new Gathering Space, join in a retelling of the Maundy Thursday story as we worship around tables, share in communion together, and a ritual hand washing. Childcare will be provided for ages birth through five years old from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. This service will be livestreamed.
Friday, April 18 – Good Friday
12 to 4 p.m. Personal Prayer and Meditation
The Rumple sanctuary will be open for personal prayer and meditation from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Copies of a simple liturgy will be available in the sanctuary for individual prayer.
1 to 4 p.m. Stations of the Cross
Rumple will also offer an outdoor prayer walk to experience the Stations of the Cross (a series of 14 stations, portraying the events in the Passion of Christ) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a self-guided program for adults and a separate activity booklet for children. This is offered in conjunction with St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church, as we have a shared outdoor Stations of the Cross set up on both of our campuses. In case of inclement weather, Stations of the Cross can be prayed in the St. Mary’s sanctuary.

One Great Hour of Sharing
On Easter Sunday, Rumple will receive the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering at all three worship services. This special offering of the PC(USA) goes to support hunger ministries, disaster response, and community development. Funds to this offering, for example, returned to the North Carolina mountains after Hurricane Helene through the work of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
