Sonya Long
Director of Operations
The Session and Personnel Committee are excited to introduce Sonya Long to the Rumple Family as the new Director of Operations. For some, Sonya needs no introduction. She was baptized at Rumple many years ago and has been working in Rumple’s nursery for over a year.
Sonya, a native of Watauga County, has spent the last 18 years at Appalachian State University as a Business Officer, and before that, 8 years with the Town of Blowing Rock. Sonya has one grown son, Quentin Long, who resides in Brooklyn, NY. She is excited to share this next chapter with Rumple in the town where her working career began and where she calls home.
The search committee was impressed with Sonya’s experience at Appalachian State, which is very similar to what she will be responsible for at Rumple. Sonya already knows Rumple and Blowing Rock, which are additional strengths. Her references, which include a few Rumple members, had glowing things to share about her.
Please join in welcoming Sonya. She will begin as the Director of Operations on Monday, March 3.

Why did you choose Rumple?
My background in the church called me back, and an opportunity arose at Rumple. When I looked into the congregation, it looked like a vibrant, engaged, missional church, and I was sold!
