Hope Squires awarded 2024 Presbyterian Women Honorary Life Membership

During worship on Sunday, October 27, 2024, Hope Squires was named this year’s Presbyterian Women Honorary Life Membership recipient! This honor is bestowed to a Rumple member in recognition of outstanding leadership and faithful service. The award was presented to her by past recipients Linda Mauldin, Cristy McKinney, and Alice Salthouse.

Hope is a founding member of Rumple Women Together, a founding member and current co-chair of the Creation Care Subcommittee, leads Rumple’s Creation Care hikes, and worked with St Mary of the Hills to create Outdoor Stations of the Cross. Hope served on the Communications Committee that created the new Rumple website, and as part of that committee, led the group effort to create the new Rumple logo. She volunteers regularly at Blowing Rock CARES and has been integral in Rumple’s hurricane relief efforts, keeping the website current on community needs and helping coordinate overall hurricane response at Rumple. Also, during last Sunday’s congregational meeting, she was among the slate of Elders approved for the Class of 2027. Hope is a devoted member of this church who believes in our collective good. She serves with compassion and empathy. She is a gentle friend and thoughtful listener. Her faith is foundational to who she is and how she interacts with the world. Kathy Beach recently shared a quote stating that “Hope is an action word”, and Hope Squires embodies that in both name and spirit!
