Stations of the Cross

Brought to you in partnership between Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church and St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church

The Stations of the Cross—or Way of the Cross—is an age-old tradition of walking the path that Jesus took from the time of his condemnation at Pilate’s hands to his burial. While the number of stations has varied through the years, with as many as 37 at one time, modern churches recognize anywhere from eight to 14. Some of the stations are based in scripture, and others have been adopted from long-standing tradition in European churches. You will find 14 stations on your journey here today.

St. Mary of the Hills and Rumple invite you to spend time in contemplation as you walk and pray the outdoor stations spread across both church campuses.

Be safe: Please be mindful and aware of traffic around you during the portions where you will be walking along Ginny Stevens Ln. or crossing Main Street. Please use available crosswalks and sidewalks, and pay attention to your surroundings during those times for a safe journey. Below, you’ll find a map marking the locations of the stations.

Download the program to follow along with the liturgy for each station. Children’s programs are also available during Rumple’s office hours, or you may download a children’s program.

We hope your time with us will be one of blessing. If you have any questions or want to talk with someone, please reach out to us. Contact Rumple or St. Mary of the Hills.
